Hi there, my name is Tracy Cowan.  My family line stretches back through Cowan, Scott, Isbister, Bear and Sinclair all the way to Red River. I am a proud Métis, mother, and wife among other things.

My personal response to the Truth and Reconciliation “Calls to Action” is to try to walk the path laid before me as authentically as possible so that everyone around me will feel empowered to do the same. My professional response is to help our female youth regain their natural positions as influential leaders in our communities.

In my professional life, I  am immersed in education and Indigeneity. Unfortunately, while I am exposed to endless beautiful examples of Indigenous entrepreneurship and ingenuity, not all of it fits within a framework that encourages celebration and it often goes unchampioned.  One afternoon while I was lamenting the absence of a place to see all of the beautiful Indigenous authors, business owners, concepts and celebrations, a friend suggested that I create one.  So here we are.  Please feel absolutely free to send me suggestions for new resources, sites, and other beautiful examples of Indigeneity in your world and I will try to share them in mine.
